Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's absence from spring practice was a short one as the sophomore returned to the field two days after injuring his thumb.

Tagovailoa left the team's first spring practice Tuesday to go for an evaluation. He was back at practice Thursday but did not fully participate in drills. He instead worked off to the side with the head athletic trainer and appeared to be testing his grip on the ball, according to AL.com's Michael Casagrande.

Jalen Hurts and Tagovailoa had been splitting snaps with the starting offense before the sophomore's injury. Sophomore Mac Jones saw increased work with Tagovailoa out as Hurts ran the first-team offense.

Tagovailoa has plenty of time to prepare for Alabama's spring game, scheduled for April 21 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
