North Carolina star big man Armando Bacot will return for a fifth year of college basketball, he told Stadium's Jeff Goodman on Wednesday.

"I'm using my last year of eligibility," Bacot said. "I felt it was the right decision for my future."

Bacot was an AP preseason All-American this year and made his third straight All-ACC team.

The Virginia native had a disappointing senior campaign relative to expectations, seeing his points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and field-goal percentage all drop from the year prior.

The Tar Heels as a team followed suit, posting a 20-13 record and missing the NCAA Tournament altogether despite coming into the season ranked as the No. 1 team after returning four starters from a national championship appearance the year prior.

For his part, Bacot admitted the campaign didn't go exactly as planned.

"The primary reason I am coming back is because I don't want to leave North Carolina this way," Bacot said. "But I also know I need to improve and feel like this is the best place to do that."
