Duke made its first splash of the 2023 recruiting class Thursday by getting five-star prospect Caleb Foster to commit to the program.

The 6-foot-3 guard out of Oak Hill Academy chose the Blue Devils over offers from Illinois, Louisville, Stanford, Texas, and Wake Forest.

Ranked 13th on the 2023 ESPN 60 list, Foster's maturity and feel for the game have been highly touted by scouts.

Foster won't be playing under the tutelage of legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski, with Coach K retiring at the end of the 2021-22 season. Current assistant and former Duke guard Jon Scheyer will take over as head coach.

The latest commitment marks a big win for Scheyer as it's already the third five-star recruit joining the Blue Devils beyond the upcoming season.

Duke posted a disappointing 13-11 record last year and missed out on the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1995.
