Florida forward Keyontae Johnson will not declare for the 2021 NBA Draft as he awaits medical clearance to continue his basketball career, he announced Wednesday on Twitter.

"Thank you for the prayers and concern that you all have shown to me during these trying few months," Johnson wrote in a statement. "It is extremely touching and very much appreciated to have the support of Gator Nation and the world standing by my side."

Johnson collapsed on the court in the first half of the Gators' loss to Florida State on Dec. 12 and was rushed to a local hospital. The 21-year-old spent the rest of the season as a coach for the team after being diagnosed with a type of heart inflammation.

The SEC Preseason Player of the Year was breaking out as a junior, averaging 19.7 points per game in three contests before his season came to a close. He was widely viewed as an NBA draft prospect prior to the incident.
