5-star forward Matthew Hurt commits to Duke
Five-star recruit Matthew Hurt has committed to Duke, a decision he announced at his Minnesota high school on Friday afternoon.
Hurt was the second-ranked power forward and 10th-ranked prospect overall in ESPN's class of 2019. He joins a loaded Blue Devils squad that includes Tre Jones, third-ranked recruit Vernon Carey Jr., and fellow ESPN top 100 prospects Wendell Moore and Rejean Ellis.
The 18-year-old also received offers from Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
Hurt was a McDonald's All-American, and he recently represented Team USA at the prestigious Nike Hoop Summit.
The Rochester, Minn., native was also a member of the United States' gold-medal winning squad at the 2018 FIBA U18 Americas Championship, starting all six games and averaging 14 points and 5.3 boards per contest.
