Although interim UCLA head coach Murry Bartow has been around the program for a large part of his life, he has no interest in taking over the full-time job.

"They'll hire a very good coach, I'm sure, and hopefully there's good days ahead for me," Bartow said Thursday following UCLA's season-ending loss to Arizona State, according to ESPN's Edward Aschoff. "I'm sure there are."

Bartow, who spent time around John Wooden and was the team's ball boy when his father succeeded him, went 10-10 in place of Steve Alford. The 57-year-old was hired last April to serve as an assistant on Alford's staff.

Bartow holds a career record of 338-274, including stops at UAB, East Tennessee State, and South Florida. During that span, his teams have made four NCAA Tournament appearances, but have never advanced past the first round.

The Bruins will miss the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2015 season.
