Doris Burke thanks LeBron, others in Hall of Fame honor

Longtime broadcaster Doris Burke picked up the Curt Gowdy Award for Electronic Media at this year's Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame honors on Thursday, and she thanked some big names for encouraging her on her journey.

"To the players and the coaches of the NBA: Rick Carlisle, LeBron James, Steve Kerr, Chris Paul, and many many others, your private words of support to me and your public statements of support of my work went far beyond what you could imagine," Burke said. "And the confidence that I had to do the job ESPN has given me."

Burke is widely considered one of the best basketball broadcasters working today. A standout point guard for Providence in the 1980s, Burke first called women's games for her alma mater in the early '90s before moving over to broadcast Big East men's coverage. She later called New York Knicks games and joined ESPN in 2003.
