Indiana Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin is scheduled to have surgery on a torn labrum in his right shoulder that'll keep him out for the rest of the season, the team announced Saturday.

The 2024 Rising Stars MVP will travel to Los Angeles next week to undergo the procedure.

Mathurin was averaging 14.5 points and four rebounds in 59 games during his second NBA season.

The No. 6 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2024-25 campaign.

The Pacers sit eighth in the Eastern Conference with a 35-29 record after making a big swing to acquire two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam in January.

Indiana is 1-3 over its last four contests and will travel to Orlando to take on the Magic on Sunday.
