Report: Giannis has ligament sprain in wrist, avoids serious injury

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo did not suffer serious damage to his right wrist, testing Monday revealed, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The 28-year-old was diagnosed with a ligament sprain in his wrist, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. He will reportedly receive treatment and return to the lineup once he's no longer in pain.

Antetokounmpo injured his wrist Thursday against the Chicago Bulls in Milwaukee's final game before the All-Star break. He attempted to block a layup by Coby White in the second quarter but lost his balance while landing and fell onto the stanchion, breaking his fall with his right hand. He exited the game immediately following the play and did not return.

The injury forced the seven-time All-Star to pull out of Saturday's Skills Challenge, in which he was set to compete alongside his brothers; Bucks teammate Jrue Holiday replaced him in the event. Antetokounmpo started in the All-Star Game but threw down one dunk before committing an intentional foul and removing himself from the contest.

The two-time MVP is averaging a career-high 31.8 points per game this season, along with 12.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists through 47 appearances.
