The Philadelphia 76ers are listing star center Joel Embiid as out for Friday's Game 3 against the Miami Heat due to his concussion and orbital fracture.

However, there remains a chance the Cameroonian big man's availability could still change for the encounter, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Philadelphia is reportedly optimistic that Embiid can make his series debut Friday or in Sunday's Game 4. However, the team can't formally list Embiid as anything but out until he clears the NBA's concussion protocols, according to Kyle Neubeck of Philly Voice.

Embiid suffered the concussion and fracture in the 76ers' series-clinching Game 6 win over the Toronto Raptors. Despite also playing a part of that series with a torn ligament in his thumb, the 28-year-old put up 26.2 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.8 blocks through six contests against Toronto.

Without Embiid in the lineup, the 76ers dropped Games 1 and 2 to the Heat on the road. The second-round series flips back to Philadelphia for Games 3 and 4. Game 5, if necessary, will return both teams to Miami on Tuesday.
