Now just 16 3-pointers away from setting the NBA's new career 3-point record, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry won't eliminate the possibility that he reaches the mark against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.

In order to break Allen's career mark of 2,973 treys, Curry would also have to best teammate Klay Thompson's single-game record of 14 made 3-pointers in the process.

"What is it, 15?" Curry asked when discussing the number of 3-pointers needed to tie Allen, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell. "That's funny because I know what that means is Klay's record and all that, too. So we will see. ... If you've seen the way I've played, especially recently, I'm not shy about shooting the ball, so the game will dictate what that looks like. I'm not coming out with that as the true goal of how I play, but crazier things have happened."

Curry is averaging 27.7 points and knocking down a career-high 5.5 threes per game. With 785 regular-season games played in his career, Curry is on track to set the league's new career 3-point record in 500 fewer games than Allen (1,300 career games played).

The Warriors point guard says he remembers watching the "dope moment" when Allen broke Reggie Miller's 3-point record in 2011. Curry's teammate, Andrew Wiggins, is excited to witness Curry make history.

"That's going to be crazy, but who else to do it but Steph? He deserves it (with) all the hard work he put in," Wiggins said. "He's one of the most influential basketball players of all time. Helped change the game, so no one deserves it more than him."

Golden State enters Wednesday's matchup tied with the Phoenix Suns for the NBA's best record at 20-4.
