DeRozan enters health protocols, Caruso out 3-4 games with hamstring injury

Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan did not play in Monday's 109-97 win over the Denver Nuggets after entering the NBA's health and safety protocols, per the team's injury report.

DeRozan could miss several games, reports The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The four-time All-Star is required to isolate for at least 10 days, but he could return sooner if he returns two consecutive negative PCR tests more than 24 hours apart, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James missed just one game after entering protocols last week, though he criticized the league's testing process afterward.

It's also expected that Bulls guard Alex Caruso will miss three-to-four games with a hamstring injury, head coach Billy Donovan told reporters, courtesy of the Daily Herald's Mike McGraw. Caruso will be re-evaluated next week, although Donovan doesn't believe the ailment is significant.

DeRozan, 32, was named the Eastern Conference's Player of the Week earlier Monday after averaging 30.3 points and 5.7 rebounds while helping Chicago go undefeated during a three-game stretch. The two-time All-NBA selection is registering a team-high 26.4 points per contest this season, the second-best mark of his 12-year career, and has helped the Bulls climb to second place in the East.
