Bulls' LaVine not upset with failed extension talks
Zach LaVine is set to hit free agency next summer after failing to secure a contract extension with the Chicago Bulls.
LaVine had been vocal about being properly compensated on his next deal but doesn't resent the Bulls for not meeting his demands.
"At the end of the day it's a business," LaVine told ESPN's Brian Windhorst. "They did what was best for the team and I will continue to go out there and do what's best for the team as well.
"This season going forward is going to be extremely crucial not just for me but for everybody. Winning would take care of everything."
LaVine averaged a career-high 27.4 points on 50.7% shooting over 58 appearances last season as he earned his first All-Star selection. He also posted a personal-best 41.9% clip from deep which ranked 20th in the Association.
The high-flying guard's career year wasn't enough, as Chicago missed the postseason for the fifth time in six years.
The Bulls responded by spending nearly $200 million in free agency, and their offseason activity wasn't lost on LaVine.
"It showed they're all in to win and we're transforming the team to be competitive," LaVine said. "We have a whole new team ... we're going to hit the ground running. I was very happy with the offseason."
