Noah 'likely' retiring after being waived by Clippers
Los Angeles Clippers center Joakim Noah is "likely headed toward retirement" after being waived by the club Tuesday, his agent Bill Duffy told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The former Defensive Player of the Year was a late-season addition for the Clippers. Noah averaged 2.8 points and 3.2 boards in 10 minutes per game over five appearances during the 2019-20 campaign.
"What an illustrious career for Joakim, starting with two national titles at the University of Florida, to becoming an NBA Defensive Player of the Year and ultimately evolving into one of the most passionate, spirited players to ever come through our sport," Duffy told Wojnarowski. "It's been my honor to represent Joakim through his journey."
Noah spent the bulk of his 13-year NBA career with the Chicago Bulls. He was a three-time NBA All-Defensive team selection, two-time All-Star, and earned one All-NBA first team nod during his tenure in the Windy City.
The former No. 9 overall pick is the Bulls' all-time leader in offensive rebounds and ranks third in blocks and triple-doubles.
Noah also had brief stops with the New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies. Before embarking for the Association, he was a key member of Florida's back-to-back national championship squads in 2006 and 2007.
