The Los Angeles Clippers are hiring Tyronn Lue as their next head coach and Chauncey Billups as his lead assistant, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Lue's deal is a five-year contract worth around $7 million annually, The Athletic's Jovan Buha and Joe Vardon report. Longtime NBA assistant and former Atlanta Hawks bench boss Larry Drew will also be joining Lue, a source told Charania.

Lue was the lead assistant on Doc Rivers' staff this past season. He reportedly received significant support from key Clippers players during the team's head coaching search, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 43-year-old previously spent parts of four seasons as the Cleveland Cavaliers' bench boss, leading the club to its first NBA title in franchise history in 2016.

Billups was also around the Clippers during the 2019-20 season, serving as a television analyst for the team's broadcast. The former Finals MVP spent two seasons with the club during his playing career and was linked to the Indiana Pacers' head coaching vacancy earlier this summer.
