Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo's remaining $3 million in salary for the 2019-20 campaign is in dispute as he reconsiders participating in the NBA restart, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports.

Oladipo said in June that he didn't intend to play in Orlando in order to fully recover from the torn quadriceps tendon he suffered last season. However, the guard recently cleared quarantine inside the Disney bubble and has participated in practices and five-on-five scrimmages with his teammates, sparking optimism that he'll play for the Pacers after all.

The NBA's rules for the restart state that players who are healthy and elect not to play must forgo the remainder of their salary. The league believes that Oladipo's prior declaration that he wouldn't participate means he shouldn't be paid, according to Windhorst. Lawyers for the players' union reportedly argue that Oladipo should be paid. Meanwhile, the Pacers are apparently willing to pay the rest of Oladipo's salary whether or not he plays.

The league is primarily attempting to set a precedent in the event that healthy players later decide not to participate, sources told Windhorst.

Oladipo averaged 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 13 appearances for Indiana this season after returning from injury in late January.

The Pacers enter the upcoming eight-game seeding portion of the NBA restart fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 39-26 record.
