The sports memorabilia market remains active during the global coronavirus pandemic.

On Sunday, one of Kobe Bryant's game towels from his 2016 NBA finale sold for just over $33,000 in an auction hosted by Iconic Auctions.

The towel was taken from Bryant's shoulders by a fan as he walked off the court on April 13, 2016, after scoring 60 points in his final career game with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to the auctioneer's website.

That fan sold the towel later that year for just under $9,000, according to CNN's Amanda Jackson.

Bryant died Jan. 26 in a helicopter crash that also killed his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven others.

Sunday's winning bidder plans to create a Lakers museum in Southern California, Iconic Auctions president Jeff Woolf told Jackson.
