Harkless hasn't broached buyout talks with Knicks

Moe Harkless says he hasn't approached the New York Knicks about the possibility of a buyout but might consider it at some point, according to The Athletic's Mike Vorkunov.

The 26-year-old small forward was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers on Feb. 6 as part of three-team trade headlined by former Knicks forward Marcus Morris. The swap saw Harkless rerouted from one of league's top title contenders to a lowly Knicks squad that currently sits seven games out of a playoff seed at 17-38 (.309).

Harkless is set to collect $11 million this season, the final year of his contract. If he's bought out or waived outright prior to March 1, he'll be eligible to appear in the postseason for another team (except for the Clippers, who can't re-sign Harkless in the same season in which they traded him).

In eight seasons predominantly spent with the Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic, Harkless has averaged 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and a steal per game. He's shooting 35.5% on 3-point attempts this season.

He played 25 minutes off the bench in his Knicks debut Feb. 12, recording four points, five boards, two assists, and a steal in a blowout loss to the Washington Wizards.
