Burks signs 1-year deal with Warriors after Thunder let him de-commit
Free-agent guard Alec Burks and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to a one-year contract, his agent, JR Hensley, told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The deal comes a week after Burks committed to signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder, who then allowed him to re-evaluate his decision and negotiate with other teams following their weekend trade of Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers.
"Alec was extremely appreciative about how the Thunder handled the situation and he’s looking forward to his new opportunity," Hensley said.
The Thunder suddenly entered rebuild mode following Friday's blockbuster trade. While Burks has decided to move on, Mike Muscala, who also signed with Oklahoma City this summer, will remain with the team, according to Charania.
Burks was traded twice last season - from the Utah Jazz to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and then from the Cavs to the Sacramento Kings. He's averaged 9.5 points on 35.5 percent 3-point shooting in 429 career NBA games.
