Report: NBA removes Asik's salary from Bulls' books

The NBA has ruled to strike Omer Asik's contract from the Chicago Bulls' salary books due to career-ending injury/illness, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Asik, who began his NBA career with the Bulls in 2010, rejoined the franchise in February 2018 in a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans but played just four games with Chicago. He was ruled out indefinitely with inflammatory arthritis in September before the Bulls officially waived the 32-year-old in October.
With Asik's 2019-20 salary removed, the Bulls gain $3 million in cap space for a total of more than $23 million, according to Charania.
The Turkish center averaged 5.3 points and 7.1 rebounds in eight NBA seasons.
