League executives believe the New Orleans Pelicans are monitoring Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal and are open to parting with the No. 4 pick in Thursday's draft in a potential trade, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

There's no word on if the Wizards are interested in parting ways with their All-Star. Washington is faced with a tough decision as Beal is its only player who could fetch a valuable return via trade.

Interim president Tommy Sheppard is handling the Wizards' front-office business since Washington fired Ernie Grunfeld after its season concluded, and the organization has been adamant about building the team around Beal.

The Pelicans have been open to dealing the draft pick after acquiring it from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Anthony Davis trade. New Orleans already owns the No. 1 overall selection and will likely take Duke phenom Zion Williamson.

In addition to the pick, the Lakers sent Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and two future first-rounders to New Orleans.

The Wizards could look to retool with John Wall likely sidelined for the entire 2019-20 campaign after undergoing Achilles surgery in February. Wall signed a four-year, $170-million super-max extension in 2017 that will begin next season.
