A LeBron James-Tyronn Lue reunion has taken another step toward fruition.

Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka is meeting with Lue on Friday, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Lue has history with James, having coached the Lakers superstar with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2016-18. The 41-year-old won an NBA championship in his first season and followed that up with two more trips to the NBA Finals.

He was fired this past season after starting the year 0-6 and went 128-83 overall as the Cavs' bench boss. Lue began his 11-year playing career with the Lakers, winning a pair of NBA titles in three seasons primarily as a backup point guard.

Philadelphia 76ers assistant Monty Williams and Miami Heat assistant Juwan Howard are reportedly among the other candidates to replace Luke Walton. Pelinka is expected to meet with Williams for a second time, league sources told Wojnarowski, after initially meeting Tuesday.
