Warriors clinch franchise-best 7th straight playoff appearance

With their 110-88 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder Saturday night, the Golden State Warriors became the first team in the Western Conference to book their ticket to the playoffs.

The Warriors also set a new franchise record, clinching their seventh straight trip to the postseason.

The previous record of six consecutive playoff trips was set between 1946 and 1952, starting when the franchise played in the Basketball Association of America and was based out of Philadelphia. Since relocating to the west coast in 1962, the Warriors hadn't made more than three consecutive playoff trips.

While the star-studded Warriors reaching the postseason this year has been a foregone conclusion, the distinction still carries some weight for some recent additions to the two-time reigning champs' roster.

DeMarcus Cousins should finally make his long-awaited playoff debut, barring another unfortunate turn in health. In eight seasons prior, the four-time All-Star has either failed to qualify for the postseason or was unable to participate due to injury.
