Pelicans to keep Davis on minutes limit vs. Lakers

Anthony Davis will see about 20-23 minutes of action Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry told reporters, including ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk.

Davis will also likely be held out of the fourth quarter.

That plan lines up with how Gentry's used Davis in the two games he's played for the Pels since the All-Star break. The superstar logged 20 and 21 minutes, respectively, checking out of both games for good in the third quarter.

Prior to his trade request in January, Davis averaged 37.1 minutes per game.

"I think everybody wants to play the fourth quarter," Davis said Wednesday. "Obviously it is frustrating. I've never, like I said before, been a guy who has been able to sit out the fourth, but I just play and do whatever I can, play as hard as I can for the minutes I am on the floor."

The game is Davis' first against the Lakers in Los Angeles since they were heavily rumored to be his preferred trade destination. Davis sat out Saturday's game against L.A. in New Orleans.
