One of the NBA's longest-serving veterans will play another year.

Udonis Haslem is returning to the Miami Heat for his 16th season on a one-year, $2.4-million deal, according to Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.

The Heat now have one open spot left on the roster, presumably for Dwyane Wade, Reynolds added.

Haslem, 38, had the smallest on-court role of his Heat tenure last year, appearing in just 14 games.

The Miami native will be the third-oldest active player in the league this season, behind 41-year-old Atlanta Hawks guard Vince Carter and 40-year-old Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki.
