Carmelo Anthony is expected to sign a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum with the Houston Rockets once he clears waivers in the coming days, sources told the New York Times' Marc Stein.

According to Stein, Anthony is unlikely to become a free agent before next week as his pending trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Atlanta Hawks could take several more days to complete. Once it is official, Atlanta is set to waive Anthony, who will have 48 hours to clear waivers before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

Rockets star James Harden said last week that signing the 34-year-old Anthony would be a "great acquisition." The addition would bring another isolation specialist to the Rockets' attack, one that excelled last season with Harden and Chris Paul.
