LeBron: Lonzo will be 'really, really good ... probably a great point guard'

LeBron James is giving Lonzo Ball props for breaking one of his records, and could see him doing much more damage in the league.

"Congratulations to him," James said Monday after the Los Angeles Lakers rookie became the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double Saturday when he hung 19 points, 13 dimes, and 12 rebounds on the Milwaukee Bucks.

At 20 years and 15 days old, Ball claimed the record previously held by James, who accomplished the feat in 2004-05 when he was 20 years and 20 days old.

James, 32, has since broken many more records, claimed plenty of hardware, and guaranteed himself a spot in the Hall of Fame. He sees potential in Ball to become one of the game's top players, too.

"I think he's going to be a really, really good point guard in our league, probably a great point guard if he continues to work on his craft, which it seems like he does," the Cleveland Cavaliers icon said. "They got a good one."

James has thrown support behind the No. 2 pick in the past, attending his summer league games and wishing the "young king" a happy birthday a few weeks ago.

Ball appreciates the love, especially coming from the person he grew up idolizing.

"It's motivation," Ball said of James' comments, as quoted by ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "Personally, LeBron, if he says that it's like an honor. So I'm gonna work and keep trying to get better every day."

Real recognize real.
