Report: Westbrook, George played 'immense part' in OKC landing 'Melo
The two Thunder stars "played an immense part" in convincing Carmelo Anthony to waive his no-trade clause and accept a deal to the Thunder that was agreed to Saturday, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The blockbuster trade will be finalized Monday, Wojnarowski added, and gives the Thunder a prolific "Big 3" of their own.
Make no mistake, it's been a banner few months in OKC:
Anthony was seemingly intent on joining the Houston Rockets via trade, but agreed Friday to add the Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers to the list of teams he'd accept a deal to. The Thunder pounced, and fewer than 24 hours later, the 33-year-old's a member of Oklahoma City.
Making things that much more interesting: New York opens its season in - you guessed it - Oklahoma City on Oct. 19.
