'Big Baby' Davis willing to play in G-League to return to NBA

It's been two years since Glen "Big Baby" Davis lasted stepped on an NBA floor, and at 31 years of age, he's willing to start from the bottom and work his way up to get back into the league.

"I want to play. That’s my next step," Davis told The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears. "Whatever I have to do to show I can play the game at a high level still and help a team win, I will do. I know it’s going to be a process because I haven’t played in two years. But I feel like I’m at the prime in my game and I still have a lot to offer.

"I am considering the G League. It’s a great opportunity to show all 30 teams that I can play without getting hurt. They can see what I can still do. This is the best opportunity to make my steps back to the NBA."

It was during the 2015 playoffs as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers when Davis last saw NBA action. His most prominent run in the Association, though, came with the Boston Celtics for the first four years of his career, winning a championship with the organization in 2008.

"Man, how time flies and how fun it was. I remember taking my shirt off during the parade and going crazy, having a good time. I look forward to the day of that reunion," Davis said of his time in Boston.

After the Celtics fell in the 2010 Finals to the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis was dealt to the Orlando Magic ahead of the lockout-shortened season in a package for Brandon Bass. The two sides agreed to a buyout in February 2014, with Davis joining the Clippers days later.

He underwent left ankle surgery following the 2014-15 campaign, and hasn't played since.

Over the course of 514 regular-season appearances, the former second-round pick averaged eight points on 44.7 percent shooting, 4.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 21.1 minutes per game.
