LaVar Ball may feel two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry won't willingly try to guard his son, Lonzo Ball, when their teams meet up this upcoming season, but there's one player who certainly won't shy away from the task, and Lonzo won't have to wait long to match up with him.

New Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley is chomping at the bit to bring the heat to Lonzo on the defensive end, suggesting as much on Twitter Friday evening in response to LaVar's comments:

Beverley - who was acquired from the Houston Rockets in the blockbuster trade for All-Star Chris Paul - is expected to be the Clippers' starting point guard moving forward, as is Lonzo with the Lakers.

Considered one of the top defenders at his position in the Association, Beverley cemented that reputation with his first appearance on the All-NBA Defensive first team in 2016-17.

The two L.A. squads will open the 2017-18 campaign against each other on Oct. 19 at Staples Center.
