Tony Parker updates recovery, expects to return in '4 or 5 months'

Tony Parker's rehab and recovery from surgery to repair a ruptured left quadriceps tendon remains right on schedule.

"It's OK. It's getting better and better," said Parker of his injury during a recent interview with Argentina's LPG TV, according to My San Antonio's Tom Orsborn.

"I'm starting to run like a little bit. I'm walking pretty well. I think it's still going to be a long process. It's still going to take like another four or five months, but I am very happy with the progress. I am advancing in my rehab."

The injury occurred during Game 2 of the second round of the playoffs against the Houston Rockets, with Parker's left knee buckling underneath him after going up for a floater in the lane.

He then went under the knife two days later, with the Spurs still managing to eliminate Houston without Parker's services in six games before getting swept by the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference finals.

The Frenchman's plan weeks after his surgery was to eventually hit the court once again in January, with his latest timeline following that same course.

Parker is signed for $15.4 million in 2017-18, which will be his 17th season in a Spurs uniform. He averaged 10.1 points on 46.6 percent shooting, 4.5 assists, and 1.8 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game as a starter during the regular season.
