3 players who can rewrite their legacies in The Finals

Performing in the regular season is one thing, but a player's career is often defined by their accomplishments in the playoffs.

Here are three players who can rewrite their legacies in this year's Finals:

Kevin Durant

With eight All-Star appearances and an MVP to his name, Kevin Durant may very well be the best player in the NBA who's never won it all.

A championship this June would take him out of that category.

While his biggest detractors will likely argue that he needed to join a superteam to win a championship, they won't have a leg to stand on if the 28-year-old delivers an MVP-level performance in the Finals.

Durant has already said that he made the correct decision by signing with Golden State, and few would disagree if he leads the Warriors to their second championship in three seasons.

LeBron James

Another ring for The King will only add to his growing legacy.

Should the Cavaliers down the Boston Celtics in their Eastern Conference finals matchup, it would mark LeBron James' seventh straight Finals appearance, and open the door for him to win a fourth title.

Game 3 aside, LeBron has been simply unstoppable in this year's playoffs, averaging 32.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and seven assists while posting an effective field-goal percentage of 61.5 percent.

A championship this spring wouldn't necessarily be enough to move LeBron past Jordan as the greatest ever, but it would at least put him at the forefront of the conversation.

JaVale McGee

After showing glimpses of his potential throughout much of his career, Warriors center JaVale McGee has slowly transformed into a valuable member of Golden State's rotation during his time in the Bay Area.

The 29-year-old has followed a solid regular season with a superb playoff run, averaging 23 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per 36 minutes while shooting a preposterous 65.2 percent from the field.

With either the Cavaliers or Celtics concentrating their efforts on stopping the Warriors' All-NBA trio of Durant, Steph Curry, and Draymond Green, McGee will likely receive a number of opportunities to assert himself down low.

If McGee continues his dominance in this year's Finals, the 7-foot center will have zero trouble attracting suitors when he hits the free-agent market this summer.
