Masvidal demands fight from UFC, calls Edwards 'coward'

Jorge Masvidal is sick of waiting for a fight.

The welterweight hasn't fought since his knockout loss to Kamaru Usman at UFC 261 in April, and he's growing impatient waiting for another opponent.

"I've been freaking going in and out of (UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell's) office and calling him, and they still haven't given me a date or an opponent. I wanted to fight this year. I don't know what the f---'s going to happen," Masvidal said on MMA Uncensored Friday.

"I already told them give me a f------ deadline before I go full blast takeover. ... I need a fight, Hunter."

The 36-year-old owns a 35-15 record and is coming off a superstar turn in 2019 when he stopped Darren Till, Ben Askren, and Nate Diaz in succession.

However, his rise was followed by a quick fall in 2020 when he lost two title matches to Usman. Masvidal has dropped to sixth in the division rankings and has grown frustrated with negotiating for a bout with third-ranked welterweight Leon Edwards.

"That guy is such a talking fucking machine. Cause the contract's in front of his face, he has said no like two or three times already. So, we're already moving on," Masvidal said.

The pair have a score to settle. Masvidal and Edwards had an impromptu dustup backstage after "Gamebred" defeated Till at a Fight Night event in March 2019.

Masvidal says Edwards is now ducking him.

"It's either yes or no when a contract gets put in front of me. 'Who is the highest-ranked guy with the most money I can make,' and that's who I'm going with.

"Leon was talking about I turned down the fight. No, you f------ moron of a person. I fought for the belt twice. Why would I fight you? Who the f--- are you again? Now I've got spare time, I'll beat this guy's f------ teeth in, but he's nowhere to be found. So we might have to move on cause he's a coward."

Edwards is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Diaz in June.
