It's official: Leon Edwards is holding out for a title shot.

The UFC's No. 3-ranked welterweight tweeted Wednesday that his next fight will be for the undisputed belt.

Edwards added that he doesn't want to fight someone who's riding a two-fight skid and coming off a knockout loss, presumably referring to former title challenger Jorge Masvidal.

No. 2-ranked contender Gilbert Burns has expressed interest in fighting Edwards in recent months, and he responded to the 30-year-old's declaration on Twitter:

Edwards and Masvidal have a bit of a history, and now the latter is coming off back-to-back losses against welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. They engaged in a backstage scuffle - which led to the viral three-piece-and-a-soda moment - at a UFC event in March 2019 after both earning wins earlier in the night.

Since then, the 170-pound contenders have called each other out several times, but a fight hasn't materialized.

The next welterweight title bout takes place in November, with Usman scheduled to defend his strap in a rematch against Colby Covington at UFC 268.

Edwards has fought Usman before, with the current champ winning by unanimous decision in 2015. That was the Brit's most recent defeat, and he's gone on a 10-fight unbeaten streak since then.
