There was a lot of chatter about a potential superfight between Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya when both were UFC champions. But with Jan Blachowicz claiming the 205-pound throne Saturday night, he wants in on the fun.

The new titleholder said he would welcome a superfight against Adesanya if the middleweight champion decided to move up in weight.

"Maybe. Why not?" Blachowicz said at the UFC 253 postfight press conference, according to MMA Fighting. "(Adesanya) said that (he could move up) before in the interviews. ... Why not. We can try to do this. I'm open. But give me two weeks break, OK?"

Adesanya and Blachowicz were both victorious in title fights at Saturday's pay-per-view card in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Adesanya retained his 185-pound belt with a second-round TKO of Paulo Costa in the main event, and Blachowicz won the vacant light heavyweight title with a second-round stoppage over Dominick Reyes in the co-headliner.

Jones, a longtime 205-pound champion, relinquished the belt in August to pursue a run in the heavyweight division.

Adesanya has said in the past that he plans to eventually move up to light heavyweight, but not before defending his belt several times. His sights were originally set on "Bones," but the 31-year-old said during the postfight press conference that he still might be open to the idea of moving up with Blachowicz as champion.

"Maybe. I'll have to ask (head coach) Eugene (Bareman)," Adesanya said, according to MMA Fighting. "But like what I said about Anderson Silva, Anderson Silva defended his belt so many times. So many times in the middleweight division. And then he went up to light heavyweight for little shows. I just wanted to f--- up Jon Jones, and I still will.

"But I'll just have to talk to Eugene, because he even talked about (heavyweight champion) Stipe Miocic and other things. So, yeah, everything's open. Cheddar makes it better."

Adesanya, who won the middleweight title last October, has successfully defended his belt twice and believes there are still multiple opponents left for him at 185 pounds.
