Conor McGregor reflected on his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 and the melee that ensued afterward in an extensive interview with Tony Robbins.

In one segment, McGregor attributed his poor performance to a lack of focus, injuries, and difficult weight cut leading into the bout.

"The injury itself led me to have to halve my work," the Irishman explained. "I couldn't road run anymore. My weight was too high. So, when you're cutting weight, if I can't get my weight because of injuries or whatnot I have a more intense weight cut. So, I was severely dehydrated. I didn't sleep for 48 hours before the weight cut. But these are all just nonsensical excuses."

McGregor then went to the tactical side of the match, outlining where he believes he went wrong against the UFC lightweight champion.

"I attack. I am an attacker. And my attack defends. But this camp, for some reason, the entire focus was defense," McGregor revealed. "It still irritates me to this day."

The Irishman also gave his perspective of the postfight fracas that resulted in both fighters receiving hefty fines and suspensions, suggesting he was victorious in the "real fight."

"As I jumped on top of the cage, his brother came sprinting across and jumped up on top of the cage also to climb in and help him and join the fight," McGregor said. "I seen him there. It was like a Christmas present."

Neither McGregor nor Nurmagomedov have competed since UFC 229.
