Mendes pulled from UFC Atlantic City due to potential USADA violation

Augusto Mendes won't be vying for his second UFC victory when the promotion takes Atlantic City.

"Tanquinho" has been pulled from his April bantamweight date with Merab Dvalishvili at UFC Fight Night 128 due to a potential violation of the USADA's anti-doping policy related to an out-of-competition sample collected on March 7, the promotion announced Tuesday.

A replacement opponent is currently being sought for Dvalishvili. As per protocol, the banned substance found in Mendes' flagged sample was not disclosed.

Mendes has dropped two of three in the Octagon and was last seen falling to Aljamain Sterling by unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 24 in April.
