Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Steffen joined Fortuna Dusseldorf on a season-long loan Tuesday after conceding twice over five matches during the United States' run to the Gold Cup final, the Premier League club announced.

The 24-year-old officially arrived at Manchester City this summer after playing the first half of the Major League Soccer season with the Columbus Crew, but will now spend the 2019-20 campaign in the Bundesliga.

Manchester City deployed a similar tactic with Jack Harrison, who was signed from New York City FC in January 2018. The winger was immediately loaned to Middlesbrough following his permanent shift to City and is now set to spend a second straight season on loan at Leeds United.

Uriel Antuna, the LA Galaxy loanee, is also on City's books with Yangel Herrera, the Venezuelan who played for NYCFC over the 2017 and 2018 MLS terms.

Steffen wasn't the only shot-stopper to temporarily depart Manchester City on Tuesday. Kosovo international Arijanet "Aro" Muric will spend the upcoming campaign with Nottingham Forest.
