The Cleveland Guardians placed outfielder Steven Kwan on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring injury, the club announced Monday.

Kwan has an acute left hamstring strain and is expected to miss four weeks, according to Zack Meisel of The Athletic.

First baseman Kyle Manzardo, ranked as the Guardians' No. 2 prospect and No. 52 overall by MLB.com, will take Kwan's spot on the team's 26-man roster. Manzardo is in the lineup, batting seventh for his major-league debut against the Detroit Tigers on Monday.

Kwan was sent for an MRI on Sunday after he left Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels with what the team called left hamstring tightness.

Kwan missed over a month because of a hamstring strain during the 2021 campaign.

"A hamstring is always concerning, especially with my history," Kwan said Saturday, according to Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com. "It's not something to be optimistic about."

The 26-year-old has been one of the main sparks behind Cleveland's surprising 21-12 start to the season. Kwan's .353 average leads the American League, and he places second in hits (48), runs scored (28), and OBP (.407).

A combination of Will Brennan, David Fry, and Ramon Laureano would likely cover left field during Kwan's absence. First baseman Josh Naylor can also fill in at one of the corner outfield spots if necessary.

Manzardo was hitting .303/.375/.642 with nine home runs and 20 RBIs in 29 games at Triple-A Columbus this season. Cleveland acquired the 23-year-old from the Tampa Bay Rays last July for pitcher Aaron Civale.
