Toronto Blue Jays reliever Génesis Cabrera will serve a two-game suspension starting Tuesday against the Houston Astros after appealing MLB's original three-game ban.

Cabrera was originally suspended for instigating a benches-clearing incident by pushing Tampa Bay Rays infielder José Caballero during Saturday's contest.

The left-hander's absence hurts the club's bullpen depth, as All-Star closer Jordan Romano and setup man Erik Swanson are already out with injuries.

Cabrera's given up four earned runs, including two homers Monday, over two appearances in 2024. He posted a 2.66 ERA with 0.97 WHIP over 23 2/3 innings with the Blue Jays last season after they acquired him from the St. Louis Cardinals.
