The Rays also placed outfielder Luke Raley on the 10-day injured list with a cervical strain and designated right-hander Trevor Kelley for assignment to make room for Caminero on the 40-man roster.
Caminero, 20, is the organization's top prospect and ranks sixth in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.
The Dominican infielder was hitting .309/.373/.548 with 20 home runs and 62 RBIs in 81 games for the Montgomery Biscuits after posting a 1.094 OPS in 159 plate appearances at High-A Bowling Green.
Caminero primarily plays third base but also has experience at shortstop and first base.
He was signed by the Cleveland Guardians in 2019 and acquired by the Rays in exchange for right-hander Tobias Myers in 2021.
The Rays trail the Baltimore Orioles by 1.5 games for top spot in the AL East with eight games remaining.
