New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo was perplexed after he was assigned a third strike due to a pitch-clock violation in the eighth inning of Friday's 3-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.

"It seems ticky-tack," Nimmo said, according to Dan Martin of the New York Post. "Usually, we get a little more time on foul balls. Maybe that's been wrong."

Nimmo accepted some responsibility for the situation, admitting he needs to be more mindful of the clock.

"It sucks that a situation in a game is dictated by something that wasn't even in the game a year ago," Nimmo said. "I've got to try to be more aware of the clock."

The Mets mustered just four hits in the loss, which ended their eight-game winning streak at Citi Field.
