Astros second baseman Jose Altuve won't resume baseball activities for two months after undergoing surgery on his fractured right thumb Wednesday, Houston general manager Dana Brown said, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle.

Altuve suffered the injury after he was hit by a pitch while playing in the World Baseball Classic with Venezuela.

The Astros are expected to begin the season with David Hensley and Mauricio Dubon as the primary options to replace Altuve at second base.

Brown also said outfielder Kyle Tucker suffered a minor ankle sprain while participating in the World Baseball Classic but is expected to be fine, according to Rome.
