The hits keep coming for the New York Mets.

Outfielder Brandon Nimmo is dealing with a low-grade strain in both his knee and ankle and will be re-evaluated in one week, Mets general manager Billy Eppler said Saturday, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Eppler added Nimmo is week-to-week and isn't dealing with any structural damage, according to Newsday's Anthony Rieber. The outfielder said he believes he'll be ready for Opening Day, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.

Nimmo suffered the ailment while running and sliding into second base during Friday's game against the Miami Marlins.

The injury to Nimmo comes on the heels of the Mets losing All-Star closer Edwin Diaz for the season after he tore the patellar tendon in his right knee while with Puerto Rico at the World Baseball Classic.

The club will also be without left-hander Jose Quintana for at least three months after he underwent surgery for a stress fracture in his rib.

Nimmo has battled injuries throughout his seven-year career, eclipsing 100 games played in a season just twice.

The Mets signed Nimmo to an eight-year, $162-million contract in December to keep the 29-year-old in the fold. Nimmo set career highs in games played, home runs, runs scored, and RBIs in 2022.
