New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz won the Trevor Hoffman NL Reliever of the Year Award, while Cleveland Guardians right-hander Emmanuel Clase took home the Mariano Rivera AL Reliever of the Year Award, MLB announced Tuesday.
Diaz posted a 1.31 ERA with 32 saves and 118 strikeouts over 61 appearances last season. He was rewarded for his stellar campaign with a five-year, $102-million contract from the Mets in early November.
Meanwhile, Clase authored a 1.36 ERA with 0.73 WHIP and an MLB-best 42 saves during the 2022 campaign.
Diaz also picked up Reliever of the Year honors in 2018 when he was a member of the Seattle Mariners. This is the first time Clase has won the award.
