The Cleveland Guardians secured the American League Central title for the first time since 2018 on Sunday.

Cleveland needed a win over the Texas Rangers or a Chicago White Sox loss to the Detroit Tigers to clinch. The White Sox lost 4-1 before the Guardians were victorious 10-4.

The Guardians entered the 2022 campaign as an underdog to win the division due to employing the youngest roster in Major League Baseball.

The youth movement, and another impressive season from slugger Jose Ramirez, helped the Guardians secure the crown over the White Sox and Minnesota Twins, both of whom fell below preseason expectations.

Cleveland has won the division four times and made the postseason six times under manager Terry Francona, who began his career with the organization in 2013.
