Free-agent outfielder Michael Conforto is open to signing a new contract after the MLB amateur draft, which takes place from July 17-19, his agent, Scott Boras, told Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

The 29-year-old will no longer be tied to draft-pick compensation after the draft, and Boras insists "multiple" teams have already checked in on Conforto's availability.

"No team will sign Michael before then," Boras said of his client, who underwent shoulder surgery in April.

Conforto was expected to be sidelined for the entire 2022 season, but Boras believes his client could be ready to hit by September if his rehab goes as planned.

"There is a possibility the swinging modality can be back to normal at a much earlier date than the throwing aspect," he said.

Conforto spent seven seasons with the New York Mets before hitting free agency. The Seattle native slashed .255/.356/.468 with 132 home runs, 141 doubles, and 396 RBIs during his time in the Big Apple.
