Mets' McCann sidelined at least 6 weeks with fractured bone in wrist
New York placed the 31-year-old on the 10-day injured list.
McCann missed a game Thursday with wrist soreness, which Mets manager Buck Showalter called "manageable" at the time. An X-ray Friday revealed a more serious injury.
The backstop has struggled to produce at the plate this season, posting a .196/.266/.286 line with one home run and six RBIs in 21 games. However, he's managed five defensive runs saved.
McCann owns a .227/.290/.341 slash line with 11 homers and 52 RBIs in 142 contests for the Mets since inking a four-year, $40-million deal with the club ahead of the 2021 campaign.
New York recalled catcher Patrick Mazeika in a corresponding move to fill McCann's spot on the active roster.
