Watch: Ex-MLBer Mike Montgomery flares up, hits KBO ump with rosin bag
Samsung Lions pitcher Mike Montgomery had to be restrained from going after the home plate umpire during a recent KBO game. The left-hander was even seen throwing a rosin bag at the official before tossing his jersey on the field and leaving the contest.
While it's unclear what directly caused the uproar, ESPN's Daniel Kim hypothesized it was about an official reminding Montgomery of the 12-second pitch clock.
Montgomery, 32, joined the Lions after a New York Yankees minor-league affiliate released him earlier this year. In six starts with Samsung, Montgomery has authored a 5.65 ERA and 1.54 WHIP while throwing 28 2/3 innings.
A six-year MLB veteran, Montgomery most recently appeared in the majors for the Kansas City Royals. He has pitched in 183 games, which includes stints with the Seattle Mariners and Chicago Cubs, and owns a 3.84 ERA.
