The Tampa Bay Rays promoted Erik Neander to president of baseball operations and provided him with a multi-year contract extension on Wednesday, the team announced.

The terms of Neander's new contract are unknown at this time.

Neander previously served as senior vice president of baseball operations and general manager, a title he's held since 2016.

The 38-year-old is in his fourth season as Tampa Bay's top front-office executive. Neander's been an integral part of the Rays' major-league success while also building one of baseball's best farm systems.

Neander started with Tampa Bay as an intern in 2007.
